Rode to Fargo, North Dakota. For those of you who have seen the movie - yes, they really do talk that way up here! Ride just shy of 300 miles was wonderful but the last 100 miles or so we had the strongest wind coming out of the southwest that I've experienced in a long, long time. Man the wind sure can blow up here across those flat praries.
On the way we stopped off at Lake Itasca where the headwaters to the Mighty Mississippi are located. Really nice stop and glad we made it.
The Fargo dealer, Del Hofer, pulled out all the stops and had a great dinner party for us. North Dakota beefsteak, bar-b-que, cole slaw, homemade chips - it was really good. Del is truly a legend in the Harley community. For those of you who may not have been fortunate to meet him or hear the story about his first Harley let me know and I'll point you to an article a couple years ago in HOG Tales.
For those of you who are HOG members and know the HOG motto of "Ride and Have Fun" - well it was Del Hofer who coined that phrase for us. He always signs his name and then adds "R&F" whenever he gives his autograph.
Del is a wonderful person and we think the world of him. So very glad his dealership was on our route.
